Day 8 - Case of the Mondays

Mondayitis...it's a thing.

Last week, I posted these updates after already completing my daily Km's, however I haven't managed to get out yet.

I tell myself it's because I had to work a bit earlier and daylight savings ending is messing with my body clock. But you and I both know that I'm fishing for excuses to justify the fact I couldn't be bothered lacing up and getting it done this morning.

Me and running don't get along at the best of times, but man did we not get along this weekend. I couldn’t get a good flow going and just hated it. So that could also be playing a part in my hesitance to get back out there today.

It’s times like these I have to remind myself that just going through the motions is better than doing nothing at all. Studies now show doing things you don’t enjoy, is beneficial to brain development and long term mental health.

So I guess that means I should get my shoes on...
...
maybe after some lunch

Happy Monday!
Rob

Day 9 - 600 lives lost

Today marks 100 days since I started Running 6km every single day for the 6 babies stillborn every single day in Australia.

600km have been run, which unfortunately also means 600 babies on average have been lost since the 1st of January this year.

I’m incredibly grateful for everyone who has donated, helped share my message, and are actively involved in the 6km run for stillbirth challenge that started in April, allowing others to join me in my mission to reduce the stillbirth rate in honour of my daughter Billie, and the 6 babies lost every day.

Your participation helps in funding stillbirth research, and the creation of Still Billie Grief Care Packages.

So, thank you all. I look forward to the next 100 days of running. Who’s joining me?

Cheers,
Rob

Day 10 – How far can you push this?

Well, you’ve made it 10 days. Fantastic effort. Pats on the backs all round!

But hey! Now you’re this far into it. The questions begin to start… how far can you go?

Can you make it another 20 days?

Another 50…100 days?

Surely you can’t continue this forever, can you?

What if you make it to the end of your goal? Will you just stop? Or will you continue to run every single day?

If you are having these thoughts of taking a rest day and ending your streaks. Here's what helps me keep going that may help you.

A day may come when I stop running… but it is not this day.

It’s as simple as that.

Keep on keeping on friends!
Rob

Day 11 – Nothing Changes if Nothing Changes

Eleven days in, you are well and truly on your way to making this daily exercise into a daily habit, a daily ritual. That if allowed to consistently grow, could eventually change the way you proceed well after this challenge is completed.

What you are doing is instilling confidence. Accumulating mental fortitude. Learning that whatever the trials, whatever the adversity you either choose to put yourself through, or life decides to thrust upon you. That you have the capacity within you to adapt, change and overcome.

It’s also important to remember that what’s easy for you, can be monumentally challenging for someone else. So, comparing your own plight to others is always futile.

So, if you are reading this hoping to change a certain situation you are in, but don't think you have the capacity to find a way to make it happen.

Remember...

You got this far, you got this!

Day 12 – Keep it Simple, Stupid

I wrote 3 different drafts on what this post should be about but couldn’t cohesively put anything on the page.

Ironically the themes of two of those drafts were about not overcomplicating things.

So, in that vein, all I will say today is well done!

Well done for making it to day 12. It’s quite an achievement. I’m proud of the progress you have all made and look forward to seeing you thrive when we get into the second half of the month.

Enjoy your weekend!
Rob

It’s Gonna be May! - Early Bird Special

Ok guys. Seeing as you are all doing fantastically well with the challenge this month. Crazy how we are almost at the half way point already!

I just know you have it in you to do it all again in May!

So for the next 5 days, I’ve taken $20 off the entry fee for the May 6km for 6 Babies Run for Stillbirth challenge.

Now I completely understand if you are wanting to take a break and skip next month.

If that’s the case, I’d truly appreciate if you could pass the sign up link to your friends or family members.

The more registrations, the more grieving families we can help, and the more funds can go towards stillbirth research.

Plus! The more registrations, the bigger this great community can become.

Thanks everyone. I hope to join you all again in May!
